Wildlife not only affects the Earth’s biodiversity and the maintenance of healthy and resilient ecosystems, but it also has both direct and indirect impacts on humans. For example, the extinction of chickens would directly harm human populations that rely upon them for food. If bees were to go extinct, people would be directly affected by the absence of honey, as well as, by the loss of flowering plants deprived of bees’ essential role in pollination. To help prevent such outcomes, a multitude of institutions are working to inform the public about these dangers through educational programs and guided tours. Considering that all forms of wildlife can have a significant influence on the planet’s ecosystem, more people should be concerned about wildlife conservation.
