Chonnam National University had an opening ceremony of the "Let's Love Our Local Universities" campaign at Yongbong Hall, located in the Administration Headquarters, on July 7. This ceremony was attended by CNU President Lee Keun-bae, members of the General Student Club Association, the general alumni association, and admission ambassadors.

The campaign, called "Let's Love Our Local Universities," aims to narrow the gap in education between the capital area and non-capital areas and regain the publicness of local universities. Kim Kyoung-soo, the dean of admissions at CNU, expressed hope that this campaign could serve as the pump-priming campaign for the "Making 10 Seoul National University" proposed by the Lee government.

The campaign is a collaborative effort involving the 10 Korean Flagship National Universities, which have organized a relay campaign featuring video content shared across various platforms, including YouTube and social media. This campaign aims to share the advantages to enhance awareness among students and their parents.

Ki Shin-young, a member of the General Student Club Association, said, "Now is the time when people are concerned about local extinction. I personally hope this campaign helps strengthen the status of CNU and Gwangju. Let's love our local universities!"
