Interest in culture and the arts is growing rapidly, as more people actively seek ways to enrich their daily lives. To support this rising demand, both national and local governments offer a variety of cultural access initiatives. Here are two initiatives designed to help young people enjoy cultural and artistic experiences.
Dear My Gwangju: The Gwangju Culture and Arts Integration Platform
“Dear My Gwangju,” operated by the Gwangju Cultural Foundation, is one of Korea’s first community-based culture and arts platforms. Since it opened in February 2022, the platform has served as a one-stop hub for all things related to culture and arts. Its focus on interactive participation enables citizens, artists, and organizations to share information and sell their artwork. It offers a variety of information across six categories: cultural events, communities, art stores, art collaborations, job opportunities in culture and the arts, and cultural issues. A key feature is the “Community” section, open to both artists and consumers, which showcases everyday cultural life and displays artwork for all to appreciate.
Youth Culture and Arts Pass: Exclusive Cultural Pass for 19-Year-Old Koreans
The Youth Culture and Arts Pass provides exclusive benefits for 19-year-old Koreans, covering admission fees to diverse cultural events such as plays, musicals, concerts, and exhibitions. This initiative offers young people opportunities to experience the arts and supports their growth as engaged cultural citizens. In 2025, the pass is available to Korean nationals born in 2006. Each recipient will receive financial support for performance and exhibition fees ranging from 100,000 to 150,000 won. The pass is valid from the date of issuance until Dec. 31, 2025. Applications are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis until May 31, 2025, or until the allocated regional budget is exhausted. To apply, individuals must first register on the Youth Culture Pass website. After registration, they can select a ticketing platform, either Interpark or YES24, for reservations.
