Many people visited to the National May 18th Democracy Cemetery and paid their respects to the victims of the Jeju Air crash at Muan Airport until late into the night on Jan. 2. The joint memorial altar was filled with mourners who laid flowers and offered heartfelt tributes to those lost in the tragedy. Kang Eun-ji, a young woman visiting the altar, saying, "It is heartbreaking to witness such a tragedy at the end of the year. I hope nothing like this ever happens again."

In addition, President Jung Sungtaek, 2025 General Student Council President Shin Seung-hwan, and other officials also visited the National May 18th Democracy Cemetery on Jan. 2. They laid a wreath at the joint memorial altar to pay tribute to the victims of the Jeju Air Crash.
