"Reporter’s Pick" is a compilation of recommendations from the Chonnam Tribune reporters since 2024. This new article page includes books, movies & series, music, and "mat-zip" (good restaurant) sessions. We aim to expand Tribune readers' daily choices by providing our recommendations. –Ed.
<Book>
Choi Daniel: If you want to be careful of confirmation bias, and if you want to know the true meaning of freedom, take this book and read it right away. John Stuart Mill's essays will guide you to the inner world of thoughts.
Jeong In-hu: If you read it during the exam period, you will focus on your studies with this helpful book.
<Movie & Series>
Kim Ye-rin: This film might lead you to think hard about what makes you alive, away from the standards that society and others have made. The main character, "Miso," desires whiskey and cigarettes in her life. What do you desire in your life?
Kim Young-ji: It is a new fantasy world that I have never seen before. So, I could not predict the next episode. Also, there is a stunning landscape as the setting of the series. For your information, Robert Downey Jr. participated as a filmmaker.
<Music>
Jung Da-gyo: My favorite track from the album “24:26.” The album title literally means the music Beenzino worked on from ages 24 to 26. So, I think this album can represent the mid-20s, like me. This tune hyped me when I stayed up all night to do my work.
Song Su-min: The song is about falling back "Down to Earth" from the sky, to be with a loved one. It would be great to listen to the song with someone you love, especially in this weather these days.
<Matzip Near Campus>
Han Seung-hwan: Peppercorn is a delicious Italian restaurant near CNU. They sell soup, pasta, salad, sandwiches, meatloaf, and lasagna. If I must choose only one menu from this restaurant, I recommend trying lasagna. It tastes absolutely fabulous.
Bae Moon-seong: Roast pork and kimchi from Jeong-Tong-Jip are super delicious. I think this restaurant is a must-visit "matzip" near campus.
