[2024 English Essay Contest] for Domestic and Foreign Students
전남대학교 신문방송사 Chonnam Tribune은
개교 72주년 및 Chonnam Tribune 창간 56주년을 맞아 광주·전남지역 대학(원)생들의 영어 실력 발휘 및 향상 기회를 제공하기 위해『2024 English Essay Contest』를 개최합니다. 많은 학생들의 관심과 참여 바랍니다.
The Chonnam Tribune, Chonnam National University’s official English magazine, invites undergraduate and graduate students in Gwangju and Jeonnam Province to enter its 2024 English Essay Contest. The contest will evaluate participants in two categories: Native Speakers (students from English-speaking countries) and Non-native Speakers (students from non-native English-speaking countries). If you are interested in joining, please read the following guidelines carefully and do not hesitate to contact us.
■ 대회 개요
1. 개최 일시: 2024. 10. 12.(토) 13:00~18:00 (예정)
2. 개최 장소: 정보화본부 내 PC실습실
3. 참가 대상: 광주·전남지역 대학(원)생 (*수료생, 외국인 교환학생, 한국어 연수생, 지난 대회 수상자 제외)
4. 참가 방법: 현장에서 주어진 주제에 대해 2시간 동안 영어 에세이 작성 후 제출 (스마트 폰, 태블릿 PC 등 디지털 기기 및 사전 사용 불가)
※ 참가 인원에 맞춰 개최 시간 및 장소 확정. 홈페이지 공지 및 개별 통지
■ Competition Outline
• Date: October 12, from 1-6 p.m.
• Place: PC Room, Information & Technology Services (University Computing Center / B12)
※ Note: The time and place may change depending on the number of applicants. Please check the notice which will be posted on the Chonnam Tribune website on or after October 8.
• Essay Topic: will be announced at the contest October 12 (Saturday)
• Essay Length: 650~700 words
※ Note: The duration of the contest for each category is two hours, and participants will be required to write their essays without internet access. Dictionaries are not also allowed during the competition.
1. 참가 신청 및 방법
◦신청 기간: 2024. 10. 7.(월)까지
◦신청 방법: 참가신청서 이메일 접수 (tribune1968@cnumedia.com)
※ 홈페이지 공지사항에서 참가신청서 다운로드 후 양식에 맞게 작성해 접수
■ Application Period
• Deadline: October 7, 2024
• Submission: Email tribune1968@cnumedia.com
• The application form can be downloaded from the Tribune’s website.(tribune.cnumedia.jnu.ac.kr)
※ Note: Late applications will not be accepted.
2. 참가 부문 및 자격
◦ 참가 부문: 영어권·비영어권 2개 부문 (국적 기준: 영어권 국가, 비영어권 국가)
◦ 참가 자격: 광주·전남지역 대학(원)생 (외국인 유학생 포함)
※ 단, 수료생, 외국인 교환학생, 한국어 연수생, 지난 대회 수상자는 제외
■ Competition Categories
• Native Speakers (students from English-speaking countries, including all countries with English as an official language)
• Non-native Speakers (students from non-native English-speaking countries)
※ Note: The following students are not eligible to join the competition: prospective graduate students, foreign exchange students (those who are registered to other universities and will not actually graduate from CNU), Korean language trainees, or previous contest winners.
3. 시상 내역: 부문별 총장 상장 및 상금
◦대상 1인 50만원
◦최우수상 1인 30만원
◦우수상 2인, 각 20만원
◦장려상 4인, 각 5만원
※ 참가 인원 및 심사 결과에 따라 시상 인원 변경될 수 있음
■ Awards for Each Category
• First Prize: 500,000 KRW (1 person)
• Second Prize: 300,000 KRW (1 person)
• Third Prize: 200,000 KRW (2 people)
• Honorable Mention: 50,000 KRW (4 people)
※ Note: Depending on the number of entries, the judges reserve the right to modify the number of awards in each category accordingly without prior notice.
4. 결과 발표
◦2024. 11. 4.(월) 홈페이지(tribune.cnumedia.jnu.ac.kr) 공지
※ 수상작 일부 잡지 게재
■ Winners Announcement
