If I could go back to 2006

#274 Howdy, CNUians?

2007-01-16     Howdy Team

Good bye 2006! Welcome 2007! Before welcoming the New Year, didn’t you omit something? It is looking back at 2006. How was it? Was it regretful? or happy? Then, if you had a chance to go back to a year ago, what would you want to do differently or even change? Let’s listen to CNUians’ wishes together!

☁ Shim Sung-won
 Junior, Dept of Geology

I'll be a senior next year. These days, I have felt that it is very difficult to study both English and my major.

So, if I could go back a year ago, I would love to study English harder and have a blind date.

I think that it seems I’ll have few opportunities to have a date next year.

I regret for having wasted time last year. I should really have lived a regular life as the followings:

Getting up at 7:30 a.m., going to the private academy for college examination at 7:50 a.m., and studying subjects such as Korean, Mathematics, English and Sociology for the college entrance examination from 8:40 a.m. to 6 p.m.

So, if I were to go back a year ago, I would study harder for the college entrance examination.

If I were to go back a year, I would meet as many people as I can. I don't care whether they be women or men. I think nothing is more important than personal relations. When I look back upon the past, I hadn’t reliable friends.

I was so sad and lonely. So, I want to meet many people and make ties of friendship in society. And I regret I didn’t try to do many things such as joining a club, playing truant and going on travels when I was a freshman.

At that time, it seemed to me that studying was important. But in hindsight, what I really enjoy doing is more valuable than just taking a class.

When I look back upon the past year, I was busy about my future. I did many student association duties. So, I couldn’t take care of my family and my friends.

Everyone was as busy as me. But I didn't give a tender glance. I regret it so much. If I were to go back a year, I would spend a lot of time with my family and friends.

I want to go to the cinema and go on picnics with them. I want to be a warm-hearted person for them, too.

This question makes me think about a lot of things. Last summer I had a trip to many European countries such as Germany, Switzerland, Italy,  Paris, Spain and England.

I enjoyed my trip. ’s natural environment was so beautiful and Paris was a brilliant city in itself. The Eiffel Tower , the Louvre museum, the Versailles palace and many other famous places were beautiful.

I regret that I couldn’t see most of them. People were nice but the language barrier was big. Through this experience, I felt I was not well prepared to go abroad. I thought that I should study languages and cultural backgrounds about other countries. If I can go abroad again, I will enjoy myself fully!

                      Dept. of Business Administration

Love... Burn like a great fire, pathetic madly. I wanted to love someone last year. I’m a senior now, so I think I have little chance to take a trip so I regret that I didn’t earn some money and travel everywhere in Korea.

Next year, 2007, I want to get a job and gain recognition from many companies. I think next year’s vacation is the last chance to take a trip, so I want to leave for somewhere without advance notice of my leaving.

Turning off my mobile and being left alone, I would consider what I have done for the last twenty five years. Also I wonder about my acquaintances’ reactions when I leave without telling them.

Junior, Dept.of English Language & Literature

I regret that I had missed the opportunity to be an exchange student. TOEFL score was needed in the English-speaking community to apply for it, but the place of the test "TOEFL" was limited at that time; Seoul and Pusan .

At that time, it cost me a lot not only for the test itself but also in traveling expenses. So, I couldn’t take the test. Now the situation has changed recently and I can take the test even at the Language Education Center .

However, I am already running out of time to apply for the program at the moment. Even if the situation is not good, if I could go back to one year ago, I would take the test and apply for the program.

If I were to go back a year, first of all, I would make a lot of money through part time jobs and then buy lottery tickets with it for the dream of winning millions of won.

Second, l would exercise very hard to have a well-shaped body and boast about my body shape to the others in summer.

Third, I’ll get a driver’s license and travel to all cities with rented car. Finally, I’d study English hard and challenge to become a reporter for an English newspaper.
