Professor Kim Min-soo Elected as the 43rd Chair of Faculty Council

Kim Min-soo (Professor, Dept. of Statistics) from the College of Natural Science at Chonnam National University (CNU) has been elected as the 43rd chair of the Faculty Council. On August 6, a total of 1,250 faculty members participated in the vote. Professor Kim won the election with 572 votes. The election was a two-way race between Kim Min-soo and Kim Jin-hyeok (Professor, School of Materials Science and Engineering). The chair-elect earned voter support by pledging to strengthen public awareness of higher education, promote balanced regional development, improve the educational system, and implement other key initiatives.
He said, “We are facing a crisis and an opportunity in higher education both internally and externally. During this critical period, I will do my best to establish a democratic and autonomous decision-making governance system to ensure CNU’s development." He also promised to do his utmost to serve as the chair of faculty, listening attentively to fellow professors and CNU members, drawing on his experiences in education, research, and the various positions he has held throughout his career. His two-year term begins on September 1.
