Students in CLS (Critical Language Scholarship) program attended a K-pop dance class. The K-pop dance class was taught by teacher Kang Hayeong (Sophomore, Dept. of Performing Arts and Dance, Chosun University). Max Allison, one of the student who attended this K-pop dance class, shared his motivation of participating the K-pop dance class. “The two options were K-pop dance and calligraphy. I’m really bad at artistic things like drawing art and studio art, but I have a very limited dance experience. So I thought it would be a fun way to engage with the k-pop dance culture.” He also expressed his feelings about the dance class. “It’s a very new world for me. I’m not a dancer but I’m enjoying my time here, it’s a nice way to engage and stay active.”
Meanwhile, CLS program is a language education program funded by the U.S. government. It focuses on 13 critical languages from around the world and select U.S university students to study them as scholarship recipients. The selected students visit the respective countries and learn the languages through a short-term intensive course.
