Second Primary Debate for the 54th GSC Held on Nov. 21
The second primary debate for the 54th General Student Council (GSC) election was held on Nov. 21 in a small auditorium in Building 3 of the College of Humanities. The debate lasted for about three hours and was centered around four subtopics: education, welfare, communication, and facilities.
Reflecting on feedback from the first debate, the second debate adopted a modified CEDA debate format. This ensured that all candidates had opportunities to speak and allowed audience members to participate by asking questions on each topic. This approach aimed to create an inclusive atmosphere where both candidates and attendees could actively engage in the discussion.
Jo Hyeon-hong (Junior, Dept. of Chinese Language and Literature), the election commissioner for the General Student Club Association (GSCA), commented on the event. “The debate struck a balance between the formality of the election process and a comfortable environment for participation. I hope that this system, even beyond primary debates, will be developed and refined to serve as another platform for students to express their opinions effectively.”
