Presidential candidates take part in the first public debate held at Yongbong Hall on Sept. 12.

Chonnam National University (CNU) is scheduled to hold its 22nd presidential election on Sept. 25, with four candidates in contention. The candidates are Song Jin-kyu (School of Architecture), Kim Jaekook (School of Materials Science and Engineering), Han Eun-mi (School of Chemical Engineering), and Lee Keun-bae (Dept. of Orthopedic Surgery). During the campaign period, they participated in a joint speech session and public debates. During their speeches, candidates pledged their determination to implement programs that would improve community welfare and promote research at the university. The subsequent debates provided opportunities for candidates to share their thoughts on various questions related to university management. The first round of voting, to be conducted via mobile phones, will be held from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Sept. 25. If no candidate receives a majority of the votes, a run-off voting round will be held from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on the same day, with only those who voted in the first round eligible to participate.
