International Graduate Students Take History and Cultural Excursion in Gyungjoo
International students from Chonnam National University (CNU) Graduate School went on a two-day trip to Gyungjoo to explore Korean history and culture on July 4 and 5. According to the Office of Graduate School, 23 foreign students from seven countries participated in the cultural program. Gyungjoo is a city that treasures lots of ancient Korean remains. CNU President Jung Sungtaek and Dean of Graduate School Kwak Sang-hyun accompanied this trip. President Jung motivated foreign students to adapt to a new life. He talked about Korean education and practical advice on how foreign students can interact with other people well.
During the trip, the students looked around various cultural heritages and historic sites, including Cheomseongdae Observatory, Donggung Palace, Wolji Pond, and Bulguksa Temple. Priyadarshini Venkatachalam (Graduate Student, Dept. of Polymer Engineering, India) said, "The most interesting place was Bulguksa Temple. The traditional architecture was awe-inspiring, and the temple's folk tale was quite attractive." She also talked about her memorable event. "What I truly felt good about this trip was friends. I met many foreign friends from Malaysia, Myanmar, Bangladesh, and so on. In lunchtime, we presented our countries to each other, especially about cultural heritage. I even introduced my country, India, to my new friends. We shared the cultural diversity."
